The objectives&nbsp;of this study are to identify the&nbsp;status of automation through&nbsp;findings of a survey. Out of&nbsp;120college libraries which were&nbsp;affiliated to Bharathiar University<br>selected for this study. This study&nbsp;tries to analyze the status of&nbsp;library automation , availability of&nbsp;suitable library automation&nbsp;software and network facilities&nbsp;available in college libraries&nbsp;affiliated to Bharathiar&nbsp; University,&nbsp;Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. It was&nbsp;found that 92 college libraries&nbsp;computerized and using different<br>types of software. Only 2 libraries&nbsp;out of 92 implemented RFID&nbsp;technology. The&nbsp;shedy also identities the annual&nbsp;growth of publications, authorship&nbsp;pattern, document wise&nbsp;distribution and most prolitic&nbsp;journals. The data for the study have been extracted from ResearchGate website (www.researchgate.net) December 2017. 370 State Universities have been established by 29 States in India. Out of 370 Universities, the 98 State Universities were inactive in ResearchGate. Further the data were analyzed to find out the membership and publications of the Universities in ResearchGate. The Universities were classified into four zones like by North Zone, East Zone, West Zone and South Zone based on the location of the Universities.
